Let's Talk! Tuesday

It's been since last August that I submitted a Let's Talk Tuesday! post.  I put the weekly random posts on hold for an indefinite period of time.  Not sure that I'm restarting them, just felt like offering up some randomness this week!! :)

My randomness for this week....drumroll please....


1.  First things first. Yesterday I was overwhelmed with the majesty of God.  Awesome Creator.  Marvelous and Amazing.  And all I had to do was look at the sky.  The beautiful, wonderful, brilliant blue sky....all creation does praise Him....and my soul does sing of His majesty.


2.  In my last post I mentioned my hopes for attending the She Speaks Conference in July.  I just wanted to mention it again. ;)   I am anxiously awaiting the updated info on the conference and saving my pennies!


3.  Today, I am enrolled in 15 college hours.  Tomorrow, that will decrease by one class.  Yep.  There is therefore no condemnation.....    :)


4.  I really love my home church.  It has taken a while to feel connected (mostly because of my own hesitation) but it is now home.  And it only took 3 short years. 


5.  I had to mend my little guy's superhero costumes (again).  He was concerned that someone might see through the holes and discover his secret identity.


6.   Blogging has been an amazing outlet for me.  I just wish I could do it more.   I have "met" some incredible people from all over the world and learned a lot from other bloggers.  We are a community. :)


7.  Last year I started a blog on being frugal.  I published a total of 10 posts.  Some things just don't work out.  And I'm ok with that.  Really, I am.  (But I think I will delete it so that it doesn't stare me in the face every time I log in.....)  Not that I'm not being frugal, because I am always looking for ways to save money and I rarely buy anything that isn't on sale or off the clearance racks....I just got a little overwhelmed with all the coupons....cutting, clipping, organizing, expiration dates, doubling, tripling, combining...  (shudder...)


8.  I have three uh-may-zing children. 


9.  My husband and I will celebrate 19 years of marriage this month.  I'm so excited and hoping for a weekend away!  We need it.  Sometimes, as husbands and wives, we neglect alone time and togetherness because we are too busy taking care of everyone and everything else.  It is imperative that we keep our relationship strong with our spouse (but that's a whole other post....).

10.  I've learned that some days are just harder than others.  They just are.  It's how we deal with them that counts.

A few more-serious-than-usual random things....


1.  I am currently re-thinking/re-structuring/re-planning my blog and re-evaluating its purpose. 


2.  Starting my folder for my book projects and trying to learn more about the publishing world. (Studied some agents blogs' today which is why I am re-structuring my blog!)  Printed out lots of good stuff today.


3.  I start substitute teaching part time at Logan's elementary school next week, so am also currently planning/scheduling every hour in my day to ensure I get everything completed!


4.  Limiting my time on facebook.....seriously, a person could get lost in conversation on there and waste a lot of valuable time!   How much time do you allow or think is acceptable for social networking?


5.  What is your take on self-publishing?  And what about ebooks?


Short, but to the point today....glad we got the chance to chat, even though it was almost midnight for me! :)

Let's Talk! Tuesday

My random things for today....

 

1.  I am visiting with my sister for a few days.  She still hasn't been able to find a home church here in her small town, so we visited a nearby church yesterday.  Not the one for her!  So we'll try again Wednesday night........Wish us luck!

 

2.  After church we headed to McDonalds so that Logan and Rylee could have a little air conditioned playtime!  Here is Rylee having  a drink :)

3.  I was reading some status updates tonight on FB and this one by Robert Ricciardelli was my favorite:  "To be fed, you must feed, and to be filled, you must fill others.  To really be satisfied in life, you must allow God to assimilate Himself in you and through you in satisfying others.  Surely 'Give and it shall be given' is true and reciprocity is God's universal principle.  God fills 'Givers' with abundance and satisfies them with His goodness as they pour out His love to meet the needs of others." 

It really made me think about how fulfilled I am when I have the chance to share or minister with a group of people or even just one person!  The more we are filled, the more we can give out, and the more He fills us!

4.  Today we were supposed to visit the Children's Museum, but we didn't even make it out of our pajamas!  That doesn't happen very often for me, but boy was it nice!  We enjoyed our day at home, and our trip to the Museum is now on tomorrow's itinerary.  We are looking forward to catching (toy) fish with magnetic fishing poles, traveling into outer space, lending a hand on the ranch, walking in the footsteps of a doctor, discovering underwater river adventures under, and much more!  I better wear my tennis shoes! ;)

5.  And I'll end today's chat with a scripture.....

Yep!....guilty as charged!  I missed last week's chat!  But we WERE on vacation...... :)

I love that we can be random on this post!  Here goes........

1.  I'm thinking I may need to wax between my eyebrows because my 5 year old just told me I have peach fuzz......lovely.
 
2.  My baby (who told me I have peach fuzz) starts kindergarten in 3 weeks.....

3.  Have you ever been to Destin, Florida?  We drove through on the way home from Orlando and just HAD to stay the night!  I think we actually ended up next to Destin in Ft Walton Beach.  The beaches are amazing and the water is beautiful!  And no oil!

 
4.  In a few weeks our church is holding a Back to School Outreach and giving away shoes, school supplies, cotton candy, and free immunizations.  I get to help pass out shoes! :)
 
5.  I'm watching House Hunters International (one of my favs!!) on HGTV and a couple has 2 million to spend on a house in Fiji.......TWO MILLION!!  What kind of job do you get to be able to afford to buy a 2 million dollar house?  Or to pay $30,000 a month in rent? (Selling New York)  Just sayin....
 
6.  God never ceases to amaze me.  With all my imperfections, He loves me still.  :)
 
7.  I took a break from facebook for the month of July.....and survived!  :) 
 
8.  Thinking of canceling our Directv service and just getting Netflix through the Internet on our TV. $100.00 a month vs. $9.99.....hmmm.....TV really is such a waste of time anyway.....2 million dollar homes in Fiji.....LOL
 
9.  I want to have a girls night soon and watch hours and hours of chick flicks with no interruptions and eat lots of chocolate and popcorn.  My list would include:  The Jane Austen Book Club, Pride & Prejudice, Sweet Home Alabama, Ever After, The Holiday, ......just to name a few ;)  I may need a weekend....
 
10.  My middle baby boy :) turned 14 last Tuesday while we were on vacation...I just LOVE him!! And he started football practice for highschool this week!  Oh my...

Let's Talk! Tuesday

Some random things......

1.  Our 13 year old son left Monday for a week long youth conference.  I am so excited and believing that God is going to reveal Himself to him in a way that he has never known Him before.  I am praying and believing for great things for our whole youth ministry, including our fearless leaders! ;) 

Speaking of my 13 year old....here is a nerd pic from last week's "Nerd Day" in his youth group that my sister took and I haven't shared yet (I couldn't resist)

And in all fairness...here's a "real" pic :)

2.  I am leaving Wednesday to join in on the youth conference for that night's service!  I have a friend on staff who I will be staying with (no, I'm not wrecking my 13 year olds week away....how tragic to have your mom follow you around!)  I am excited to get away - a road trip and some alone time with God.  I hope to spend a large part of Thursday listening and writing.

3.  My posts lately are a little sporadic.  I am still journaling, studying, meditating, ...I even have a couple of posts saved as drafts....just not ready to post yet.  Plus with summer here and my kids home from school, computer time is limited (as it should be).  Thank you for your patience :)

4.  Remember our daughter has been working this summer at one of our local vet clinics?  Well....she brought a little bit of work home last week. 

"Mom....I have something to tell (show) you...."

"But mom....he was a stray and no one wanted him.  He was going to be put to sleep if I didn't adopt him."

I am thankful it is only a summer job.  ;)

5.  Monday evening I got to meet 3 of my highschool friends for an early dinner.  We try to get together at least once a year, but I think we missed last year......it was great to see them, as usual!  And I can't believe it's been over 19 years since we graduated from highschool!!  What??!   :) 

6.  Have I mentioned that we leave for Disney World on Sunday after church??! Whooop whooop! :)

7.  Have I mentioned that we are driving to Disney?  in an RV?  with another family...a total of 9 people....all the way from Texas to the East Coast?   Should definitely make for good blog material! ;)  (I just hope I can get some pics or video to go along with it! lol)

8.  In order to give my kids equal blog time, I though I'd include a pic of my 5 year old in all his glory :)

9.  My mom posted my favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe on her blog...click here for super yummyness.  But beware.....

10.  I made it to 10 again!  Yay!  Can't wait to read what YOU have to say today!

My convo pieces for the day.....

1.  My sister and niece are here for a visit....Yay! :)

2.  We went fishing yesterday.  It was so hot, though, that we weren't gone for very long.  One large mouth bass and a few mosquito bites later and we were on our way back to the house.  Good thing we can fish on our own property, we didn't have far to go.  Oh, and the snakes are out and about so we had to wear our boots! :)

3.  As I mentioned in one of our previous chats, I love to craft (when I have the time!). One of the blogs I read from time to time is hosting You: Create on Thursdays which may motivate me to find more time to create!....check it out!  This is the first week and I can't wait to link up :)

4.  I'm currently reading Jesus Manifesto by Sweet/Viola.  It's my first review and I put it on hold because of our book study (of which I have one more post this week).....so I'm hoping to get it finished soon.   One of the things I read last night that was really good: 

God is not so much about fixing things that have gone wrong in our lives as He is about finding us in our brokenness and giving us to Christ. 

It you take the time to really meditate on this, it speaks volumes.  At least it did to me.

I'll have to get back to you on my take of the book as a whole! :)

5.  Hmmmm.....what to have for dinner?  Does anyone else feel like they make the same things over and over again?  Going to the grocery store is so routine I think I could do it in my sleep!

6.  Last week I posted on Monday night before midnight so my Let's Talk! Tuesday posted on Monday....this bugged me everytime I looked at it!  Yes,..... it did.    Sooooo, this week I'm staying up until after midnight so my time will match my title. ;)  I know....I know.  (After posting and checking I'm Totally bummed again!!  It's showing up as 10:03 when it was actually 12:03 when I posted!  What's the dealio???  Ugh.)

7.  We are currently watching a hurricane in the Gulf!  Don't forget to pray for the Gulf Coast Area!

With that said,....here are my random things for the day....I thought I'd do something a little different and add some pictures today....I may regret it later and hit the delete button, so look quickly!....... :)

1.  Last week I went on my first guided fishing trip!  It was so much fun!  I caught two redfish...and let me tell ya....they are something to catch!  I thought my arm was going to fall off.....but I persevered and here's one of my prizes! :)   The picture makes it look small, ....really......there must've been something wrong with the camera.....or maybe they switched my fish......it was a monster....I thought I had a shark on the line.....lol.

2.  My 5 year old is the cutest sheep ridin' cowboy there is! :)

(He actually won a silver buckle for this ride!)

3.  I love to sew, but never have enough time.....

4.  Hair this big should be illegal!   What in the world were we thinking?  (Me on the right....a very (very) long time ago at my senior prom)

5.  My husband cloned himself.......seriously, every day our 13 yr old son becomes more like his dad.

6.  One of my favorite things about my daughter.....her laughter bubbles up from the inside.....pure joy. (I wish this picture showed her adorable lime green cowboy boots she had on with this outfit!)

7.  Last year I was blonde.....platinum blonde!  Can you believe it?  It's officially summer now, and I'm thinking about adding some highlights :)  Doesn't everyone change their hair with the seasons?  (And who did I think I was ...standing like that! haha!....At least I can laugh at myself...)

 Ok....I've embarrassed myself enough for one day.  It's your turn! :)

Some random things from me this week......

1.  I drove 4 (yes 4) hours to a graduation party on Sunday, stayed 3 hours and then drove home!  The things we do for the people we love! :)  I wouldn't have missed it for anything!  I grabbed a grande toffee nut white mocha with a triple shot of espresso from Starbucks to help me drive home!  Yep.  Felt like my eyelids were stapled to my forehead!

2.  I made the trip from #1 in a day because my husband and I had to turn right around and leave Monday morning for a couples getaway/fishing trip!  That is where I am now....yay!  We have to get up bright and early to meet our guide and start catching some red fish!  But I was determined to not miss our chat! (Awwwww......I know.)

3.  My husband looked mighty fine tonight in his cowboy hat :)  Mmmm Hmmm....I am a lucky woman :)

4.  Although this book study had been UH-MAAAAY-ZING!!!.....I am excited about finishing up because I have a couple of new articles I'm working on to share with you!  Remember....if we will just position ourselves to hear.....God is speaking!

5.  I've really been enjoying the study on marriage and becoming a better wife hosted by Stacy over at Graceful Sisters....if you haven't visited, go check her out....good stuff!

6.  I was reading a bedtime story with my 5 year old the other night and the book he choose was one about dolphins.  Did you know that when one of the dolphins is hurt or injured, some of the other dolphins come up beside and under it to carry it to the surface for air every few minutes so that it can survive?!  They do this until it gets better and is able to make it on its own!  (You know there is a blog post coming about this soon!!!)

7.  I love that we have the opportunity to share with one another via our blogs.....what did we ever do before the Internet? :) ... (I know.....we spent more time cleaning house.....)

8.  A friend recently sent me a message saying that she just read my post on Chapter 5 of our book study - Control and how it was a word from God for her at just the right time.  It is so encouraging to hear that God is using these words to not only encourage me but others as well!   I went back and re-read the post and it just so happened......I needed it that day, too. :)

9.  My eyes are getting heavy (no Starbucks tonight!)  so I'll stop with number 9 today.  Have to get rested up for our fishing trip in just a few short hours......

Some random things from me this week....
 
1.  I'm writing this @ midnight, so I'll actually be ON TIME this week instead of posting in the middle of the day!  Yay me!  :)
 
2.  Brooke's party was a huge success!  Thanks to all of our family and friends!  I am almost recuperated.  Almost.
 
3.  I've always had problems with my eye shadow creasing by the middle of the day, but I recently found something that helped!  It's one of my new favorite things!
 

 
4.  My 5 year old told me that he has decided he doesn't want to be a kindergartner.  He wants to be a fisherman.
 
5.  My sister (and 18 month old niece) are here visiting at the moment.  She was my personal photographer for the graduation ceremony and the party.  She takes awesome pictures! 
 
6.  I am thinking about taking the 24 day Advocare challenge - 12 inches or 12 lbs in 24 days.  A friend of mine sells it, but I don't know much about it.  Has anyone ever used any Advocare products?
 
7.  My "enter key" button on my laptop came off and I can't get it back on.  Looks really nice. 
 
8.  I want to redecorate my master bedroom and bathroom.  I'm thinking about chocolate brown and light blue, or black and white.  Two totally different color schemes, but I've seen them both look so cute!  I guess whatever bedding I find that I LOVE, will help me decide! :)
 
9.  I love to create things.  I love to paint, glue, glitter, sew, etc!  But never enough time (or space!).
 
10.  I can get lost in a book....for days.
