Thankful for Tinted Windows

I'm home from a quick trip to Dallas where I visited with my friend, Emily, and also got to attend a couple of  meetings with my son's youth group at the Collision Conference.  I was introduced to the ministry of Rick Pino and Benny Perez...both of whom were amazing!

After a 4 hour trip alone in my car (ah, sweet serenity...), I headed directly to the church instead of Emily's apartment because I ended up leaving 2 hours later than I had planned.  I wasn't dressed and ready for service, and the church wasn't open yet, so I really only had one option.

Yep.

So thankful for tinted windows.

After what could have been an embarrassing situation (sans the tinted windows), I adjusted the mirror to freshen my makeup.  I pulled out a compact mirror from my purse so that I could get really close to my face in order to smooth out my eyeliner.

OH.  MY.

Have you ever put your makeup on in the car with the sun shining brightly upon thy face?!

Let's just say I was glad I had my tweezers.

And to think, I laughed at my five year old son when he suggested I watch the infomercial on some great, new product for removing facial hair.  For some reason, he thought it might be beneficial to me.

Sitting there in the bright, sunny parking lot, I suddenly understood.

A few minutes later, I exited my Tahoe with freshly applied foundation to my chin and the upper right side of my lip slightly swollen.

Let the good times roll.

Ever notice how the Word of God reveals things in our life that we may not be aware of?  Like the sun, when we view our life in light of the SON, all of our ugliness (think: chin hair and mustache) is exposed.  And often times, the sins or character flaws that get revealed are things that other people can see, but we can not.  We are sometimes oblivious and unaware of the very things we so easily recognize and point out in other people.

Psalm 19:12-13
Who can understand his errors?  Cleanse me from secret faults.  Keep back Your servant also from presumptuous sins; Let them not have dominion over me.  Then I shall be blameless, And I shall be innocent of great transgressions.

Hebrews 4:12-13
For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God's sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.

When is the last time you got up close and personal with the Word of God?

Allow His light to shine on you and expose those areas that need to be plucked out, healed, or laid at His feet, removing every hindrance that is keeping you from a closer walk with Jesus and from fulfilling your God given destiny!

would one then say that as humans our tinted windows are our perceptions?

And jor ja!! You really put into words how I've been feeling about having God in my life lately - that he is exposing A LOT of ugliness about me... which isn't a bad thing coz I can now "fix" me or as you once quoted - not fix but draw closer to J-Man!

oo Like that... nice nick for Jesus - J-Man
